Well Tokyo Ghoul Re is the sequel to Tokyo Ghoul√A .
You can start seeing some similarities there in terms of Art style and Stuff. Now Tokyo Ghoul Re is still carry’s a dark theme but it also has some comedy in it, something like in Black Butler, where the whole theme is dark but you also have those chibi faces and quirky comedy, that was kinda different from what i was expecting but i’ll just say that it doesn’t really bother me but it might bother some fans( I don’t know if it is the same in manga but its there in the anime).
Story: So the direction of the story is kinda different with Kaneki now know as Haise is fighting with the CCG to fight against Ghouls. So when i actually started watching it i was left a bit confused, i had a lot of questions in my mind which most of them were answered after watching the 12 episodes but some of them still linger. The Pacing seems a bit fast probably because they only had 12 episodes to work with. I wonder why do they get just 12 episodes, Tokyo Ghoul is a pretty popular anime.
Characters: So most of the older characters are still present here but we have some addition like Saiko, Urie, Shirazu,Tooru etc. Well basically these new characters are from Haise’s own team and i personally like Shirazu. Each of those guys have unique personalities and unique motivations to fight against Ghouls.
Soundtracks: Well nothing can top “Unravel”, so the soundtrack are well lets say Nice, nothing more nothing less.
Animation: There are noticeable downgrades from previous Seasons, Particularly during Fight scenes. The style which was present during the fights in the first and even some of the second season is now missing, those fight scenes don’t make a huge impact like previous ones.
Overall i liked binge watching the anime but only because the story was moving ahead and i was too lazy to read the Manga. Trust me i’ll read the manga eventually but till then i am continuing with the anime. I just feel that the whole story is moving really fast with less explanation overall. Also i know i am very late with this review but as of now the second season is airing so i thought it would be a good time to watch this season and then continue with the second one.
