The story takes place in an antique shop which appraises antique items. The person who appraises the items is called ‘Holmes’. It is just a nickname but the guy is really smart and intelligent kinda like Sherlock.
I immediately started comparing the characters in the anime to actual Sherlock Holmes. The guy called Holmes is basically Sherlock and Aoi (main protagonist/narrator) is Dr Watson and then there is a mysterious villain which we just caught a glimpse of which kinda feels like he would be Moriarty.
Now back to the review
Story: Well it is just the first episode so i am not really sure where the story is heading into. I feel that the main story revolves around the antiques brought into the shop. The mystery part is not yet seen but we still caught a glimpse of a person who supposedly is the villain. The story might also revolve around counterfeit antiques, which Holmes does not like as an appraiser. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Characters: Yagashira Kiyotaka(Holmes) kinda gives of the Sherlock Holmes feel with his accurate instincts and all. Yagashira like Holmes has a kind of dark side to him(no drugs though). Mashiro Aoi who works part time in the antique shop after certain events. She is a smart girl who catches up with stuff pretty quickly. I think there are quite a lot of them to come some might be there for just an episode and others might make recurring appearances.
Art-style: This anime looks modern and has the art-style and animation similar to Oushitsu Kyoushi Heine. There are some moments where the character are shown as chibi versions of themselves again that’s something i saw in Oushitsu Kyoushi Heine.
While we were able to see the Ability of Yagashira Kiyotaka, we didn’t really see any mysterious cases being brought in,well we’ll have to wait for the anime to progress a bit. For those who can’t wait, you can actually go and read the Novel by Mochizuki Mai, it is said that the anime is based off of the novels.
