After watching the first episode I felt a little bit underwhelmed, but my impression have definitely changed after watching the 2nd episode.

This episode starts of by showing us a bit of the strength of Sensui Kanzaki as we see a duel between him and Kathleen. Well turns out Kathleen is a blackbelt but she is no match to an actual Samurai. Also we see a sort of costume change for Sanada the Ninja. In the first episode his hair color is black but Kathleen then makes him dye his hair and it turns blue. Not a lot of animes with characters changing their costumes, so this was a bit of a surprise. Well some of the creators for the anime are from game developer background mainly RPG so that might explain it a bit.

So these guys are living in a camp where gibia don’t attack because they have lights and apparently gibia are afraid of light, which doesn’t explain the first gibia we saw who attacked the samurai and the ninja. Well for some reason the generator at the camp stops working and all the lights go off. Now it is easy to predict what happens next, gibia starts attacking people and Sensui gets a Katana from the old man from the first episode and saves the day with the help of Sanada. Here we also see that Sensui has mutated into a hybrid of a human and a gibia, it is not mentioned but after looking at the eyes while he was fighting one can easily tell.

The old man from the first episode sadly passes away, they tried to make it a lot emotional but I just didn’t feel that way. There was no character development for the old man and that’s the reason why it didn’t feel as much emotional as it was meant to be.

One thing that I feel was a bit sad was when Sensui learned what had happened in the past to the lord he was serving. Also at the end there were two shady characters introduced, which got me excited for the next episode.

Overall an Okish episode, it was nothing really special and felt quite predictable, let’s see what happens next…

Sensui and Kathleen talking while Sanada acts like the straight man.
